Garry A. Jones, CPA
Garry is a Certified Public Accountant in
both California and Ohio.
He began his professional career at Price Waterhouse. He
spent 5 years in audit, tax, and management advisory service positions. His
client base ranged from small businesses to large multi-national corporations.
Certified audits, SEC reporting, pre and post acquisitions audits, operational
audits, system implementations, internal control evaluations, management
reporting, product pricing, fraud investigation, and inventory pricing and
control are just a few of the projects he was involved with. He departed Price
Waterhouse at the manager level.
Garry then spent 9 years working in executive financial and
management positions in various industries – real estate development,
construction, property management, real estate brokerage, and oil and gas
exploration. Involvement included responsibility for office and field
operations, accounting, financial reporting, taxation, financing, litigation,
cash flow management, systems selection, conversion and implementations,
investor relations, banking relationships, IRS and governmental matters.
He formed his own firm in 1990. His experience includes,
but is not limited to, manufacturing, construction, service, real estate,
litigation support, business valuations, process and systems implementations and
planning. The practice focus was improving business performance. Statutory
compliance is need but increasing profits is much more exciting and challenging.
He is a resourceful problem solver with significant
experience and a continued interest in business technologies.
Garry has obtained several certifications through Intuit
and its related product lines. His firm is in the Intuit Solution Provider
Program – a select group of firms exhibiting advanced problem solving and custom
installation capabilities with the Intuit product line.
Garry has served as an expert witness, court appointed
Receiver and a litigation team member in Superior Court cases. He has also
participated in Federal Bankruptcy cases as an appointed accountant, interim
CFO, and field agent. He also has experience in crisis management and troubled
company situations.
His 5 years as a construction company controller coupled
with his college level teaching experience and his litigation experience;
qualify Garry as effective litigation support expert involving legal/accounting
construction matters. Business strategy development and implementation, business
process and systems design, executive training, and profit enhancement are just
a few of his noted skills.
He is a member in good standing in several professional
groups such as, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA),
the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Ohio Society of
Certified Public Accountants. Garry is a participating member in the AICPA Peer
Review program.
In addition to being a member of professional groups, he is
the Chairman of California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Channel
Counties Chapter, Ventura CPA Discussion Group. He is the Channel Counties
Chapter liaison for the Governmental Relations Committee. Garry is also a former
Chairman of California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Los Angeles
Chapter, San Fernando Valley CPA Discussion Group and currently a member of its
Planning Committee. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the
California Society of CPA's, Channel Counties Chapter for 2005-2006. For many
years Garry participated and chaired the City of Agoura Hills Community Services
Committee. He was also an appointed member of the City of Agoura Hills General
Plan Committee.
Garry has published articles in the California CPA magazine
as well as in the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, Channel
Counties Chapter Bulletins and has made presentations to California Society CPA
groups, local group, and financial institutions.
He keeps his skills current by participating in numerous
hours of continuing education classes and pursues a quest for perpetual
betterment. He also teaches Construction Accounting at California State
University - Dominguez Hills.
Most importantly, he possesses a sense of humor!
